Introduction

The TCP-Telnet 609 error can occur in PC Access for Windows when all of the following conditions are true:
  • you are using PC Access for Windows 4.20 or 4.30
  • you selected the TCP-telnet radio button in the Connection Method group on the MLS Setup (General Tab).
  • you are using a firewall or proxy server that blocks the Windows TCP/IP Winsock Telnet Ports.

Correcting the TCP-Telnet 609 Error

The PC Access for Windows TCP-telnet sessions rely on the Windows 16-bit TCP/IP-Winsock driver (WINSOCK.DLL). If your proxy server or firewall prevents, or does not properly route the Windows 16-bit TCP/IP-Winsock calls through the SOCKS driver; your firewall or proxy server will block all calls to the Windows 16-bit TCP/IP-Winsock driver.
