PC Access for Windows Reference Guidefor PC Access for Windows 4.30.158Internet Setup Window
The Internet Setup window appears in the following ways: · When you click the Internet button on the Advanced Setup Menu window. · If you attempt to connect to the Internet from PC Access and you have not yet filled out the Internet Setup window, PC Access displays the Internet Setup Incomplete error message. If you select the OK button on the error message dialog, the Internet Setup window automatically opens. When the Internet Setup window opens for the first time, PC Access examines your Windows networking setup. If you have set up your Dial-Up Networking in Windows, PC Access assumes you will be using Dial-Up Networking to access the Internet. PC Access will automatically select the Use Dial-Up Networking to Access the Internet radio button, and the Dial-Up Connection list will show all the Dial-Up Networking (ISP) entries you have set up in Windows. If you have not set up your Dial-Up Networking in Windows, PC Access assumes you will be accessing the Internet via a direct network connection, and will pre-select the Use LAN to Access the Internet radio button. If you do have a direct connection to the Internet, simply leave the entire window blank and click the OK button. This tells PC Access not to launch Dial-Up Networking when you select an Internet feature in PC Access. If you select the Use Dial-Up Networking to Access the Internet radio button on this window, PC Access will attempt to connect to the Internet via your modem when you select any Internet feature from the following list: · You click the Call MLS button on the Main Menu window, if you have selected TCP – telnet or TCP – rlogin as your Connection method on the General tab of the MLS Setup window. · You click the Dial button on the Phone Book Select window, if you have selected TCP – telnet or TCP – rlogin as your Connection method on the General tab of the Edit Phone Book Entry window corresponding to the currently highlighted entry in the Phone Book Entries list. · PC Access attempts to connect to your MLS or another remote host automatically. This can happen if you checked the Quick Connect to MLS box on the Add/Edit Agent window, or if you use delayed dialing by clicking the Later button on the Phone Book Select window, and you have selected TCP – telnet or TCP – rlogin as your Connection method for the host. · You click the Send button on the E-Mail Message window. If you are currently online with your MLS when you send an e-mail message from PC Access, and your Connection method is Modem, PC Access waits until the Terminal window closes before connecting to the Internet via your modem.
